America: Freedom to Fascism

"A nation can survive its fools, and even the ambitious. But it cannot survive treason from within. An enemy at the gates is less formidable, for he is known, and he carries his banners openly. But the traitor moves among those within the gates freely, his sly whispers rustling through all the alleys, heard in the very hall of government itself. For the traitor appears no traitor. He speaks in the accents familiar to his victims, and he wears their face and their garments, and he appeals to the baseness that lies deep in hearts of men. He rots the soul of a nation. He works secretly and unknown in the night to undermine the pillars of a city. He infects the body politic so that it can no longer resist. A Murderer Is Less To Be Feared." Cicero, 42 B.C.

The only difference between communism and socialism is its method of imposition.

Communism is forced upon the people against their will. Socialism on the other hand is entered into voluntarily by the majority of voters.

Even though the goals are the same, socialism is much more dangerous because it gradually enslaves the people without the use of visible force, while artfully disguising its evil motives with a variety of so-called noble causes.

The evils of socialism and humanism cannot survive exposure unless "good men and women do nothing".

Video: FIAT EMPIRE - Why the Federal Reserve Violates the U.S. Constitution

This is a new video I discovered, although it has been around for some time. I have only one problem with these documentaries and books. A Central Bank is a Central Bank, no matter what name it goes by. The practices by The Federal Reserve is no more different than that of the European Central Bank, Bank of England, Bank of Japan or the South-African Reserve Bank. Keep that in mind if you are not an American watching this video.

The problem is not exclusive to the U.S.A. Fortunately for us plebs, there are still Americans with a backbone and they are the only people exposing and addressing this issue, as far as I know.

This Award-winning documentary, which features presidential candidate Ron Paul, was inspired by the book, "The Creature From Jekyll Island" by author and FREEDOM FORCE founder, G. Edward Griffin.

To get the full documentary on DVD(with up to 120-minutes of additional uncut interviews of Ron Paul and the other experts) go to www.FiatEmpire.com/screener. To instantly download a DVD-quality version of FIAT EMPIRE, go to www.mecfilms.com/mid/orders/fiat4.htm.

Find out why some feel the Federal Reserve's practices are a violation of the U.S. Constitution and others feel it's simply "a bunch of organized crooks." Discover why experts agree the Fed is a banking cartel that benefits mainly bankers and their corporate clients as well as a Congress that would rather increase the National Debt to over $9 trillion than raise taxes. Find out how the corporate media facilitates the partnership between the Fed and Congress and why it fails to disclose what's going on. Lastly, find out how the Federal Reserve-member banks are owned and controlled by an elite group of insiders.

Hayek's 'The Road to Serfdom' in Five Minutes

Here is a conundrum for you. Various titles are available for this video clip. Which one do you choose?

1) Clinton's "Road to Serfdom" in Five Minutes
2) McCain's "Road to Serfdom" in Five Minutes
3) Obama's "Road to Serfdom" in Five Minutes

Here's the catch. Doesn't matter which one you choose. The result will be the same.

In South-Africa's case there is no conundrum. The only drum beating is:

1) Zuma's "Road to Serfdom" in Five Minutes

Road to Serfdom, The Description

This spell-binding book is a classic in the history of liberal ideas. It was singularly responsible for launching an important debate on the relationship between political and economic freedom. It made the author a world-famous intellectual. It set a new standard for what it means to be a dissident intellectual. It warned of a new form of despotism enacted in the name of liberation. And though it appeared in 1944, it continues to have a remarkable impact. No one can consider himself well-schooled in modern political ideas without having absorbed its lessons.

What F.A. Hayek saw, and what most all his contemporaries missed, was that every step away from the free market and toward government planning represented a compromise of human freedom generally and a step toward a form of dictatorship--and this is true in all times and places. He demonstrated this against every claim that government control was really only a means of increasing social well-being. Hayek said that government planning would make society less liveable, more brutal, more despotic. Socialism in all its forms is contrary to freedom.

Nazism, he wrote, is not different in kind from Communism. Further, he showed that the very forms of government that England and America were supposedly fighting abroad were being enacted at home, if under a different guise. Further steps down this road, he said, can only end in the abolition of effective liberty for everyone.

Capitalism, he wrote, is the only system of economics compatible with human dignity, prosperity, and liberty. To the extent we move away from that system, we empower the worst people in society to manage what they do not understand.

The beauty of this book is not only in its analytics but in its style, which is unrelenting and passionate. Even today, the book remains a source of controversy. Socialists who imagine themselves to be against dictatorship cannot abide his argument, and they never stop attempting to refute it.

Ron Paul is a Kook

Well, that is the label Ron Paul's been awarded by the good people who oppose him and his ideas.

But what is a "kook". According to the Merriam-Webster Online Dictionary, a kook is:

"One whose ideas or actions are eccentric, fantastic, or insane"

OK. So from this definition I assume that the "sane" people are implying that Ron Paul and his ideas are "insane".

But, before I allow myself to be sucked into this belief like a sheep, I first need to validate if Ron Paul's ideas are "kooky". Then I will decide.

To do this, I will juxtapose Ron Paul's ideas (the kooky ones) against the dissenter's ideas (like day and night, hot and cold, etc.)

The Kooky Ideas vs. The Sane Ideas

Freedom vs Slavery

Peace vs War

Capitalism vs Socialism (communism)

Sound Money vs Fiat Money

Savings vs Cheap Credit/Debt

Non-Intervention vs Intervention

Free Economy vs Planned Economy

Surplus vs Deficit

Anti Income Tax vs Pro Income Tax

Independence vs Dependence

Solvency vs Bankruptcy

Deflation vs Inflation

Conservative vs Liberal

Deregulation vs Regulation

Proactive vs Reactive

Decentralized Government vs Centralized Government

Limited Government vs Big Government

Individualism vs Collectivism

Pro-Market vs Pro-Government

Private Property vs No Private Property

Money backed by Gold vs Money backed by Debt

Wow, interesting when you compare the ideas like this, huh?

Ron Paul is a kook...yeah, right! He is actually fantastic!

Let's Legalize Competing Currencies

By Ron Paul

Before the US House of Representatives, February 13, 2008

I rise to speak on the concept of competing currencies. Currency, or money, is what allows civilization to flourish. In the absence of money, barter is the name of the game; if the farmer needs shoes, he must trade his eggs and milk to the cobbler and hope that the cobbler needs eggs and milk. Money makes the transaction process far easier. Rather than having to search for someone with reciprocal wants, the farmer can exchange his milk and eggs for an agreed-upon medium of exchange with which he can then purchase shoes.

This medium of exchange should satisfy certain properties: it should be durable, that is to say, it does not wear out easily; it should be portable, that is, easily carried; it should be divisible into units usable for everyday transactions; it should be recognizable and uniform, so that one unit of money has the same properties as every other unit; it should be scarce, in the economic sense, so that the extant supply does not satisfy the wants of everyone demanding it; it should be stable, so that the value of its purchasing power does not fluctuate wildly; and it should be reproducible, so that enough units of money can be created to satisfy the needs of exchange.

Over millennia of human history, gold and silver have been the two metals that have most often satisfied these conditions, survived the market process, and gained the trust of billions of people. Gold and silver are difficult to counterfeit, a property which ensures they will always be accepted in commerce. It is precisely for this reason that gold and silver are anathema to governments. A supply of gold and silver that is limited in supply by nature cannot be inflated, and thus serves as a check on the growth of government. Without the ability to inflate the currency, governments find themselves constrained in their actions, unable to carry on wars of aggression or to appease their overtaxed citizens with bread and circuses.

The Revolution Steams Ahead

Ron Paul, the Lake Jackson GOP lawmaker whose Internet-driven presidential campaign has smashed fundraising records but failed to garner substantial voter support, is scaling back his White House efforts and is focusing on the primary race to retain his House seat.

In an e-mail message sent to supporters Saturday, Paul said that while he will remain in the presidential race, he must place a priority on his congressional contest, where he faces Friendswood accountant Chris Peden.

"If I were to lose the primary for my congressional seat, all our opponents would react with glee, and pretend it was a rejection of our ideas," he said. "I cannot and will not let that happen."

With Arizona Sen. John McCain on a clear path to the Republican presidential nomination, Paul said he no longer needs as big a national staff, "so," he said, "I am making it leaner and tighter."

How to Stimulate Yourself

The Bush stimulus has been approved. Scratching your head? Don't know what to do with this "free" money? I offer three suggestions:

  1. Donate it to the Ron Paul Revolution or
  2. Pay of your debt or
  3. Buy gold, i.e. a Kruger Rand

I would defenitely not spend it. But hey, that's me. It's your (or someone else's tax) money. ;-)

Other suggestions are welcomed.

The drumbeat of Weak Economic Numbers

Ugly retail sales on tap, and more from Bernanke

WASHINGTON (MarketWatch) -- The drumbeat of weak economic numbers will likely continue this coming week, topped by awful retail sales figures and depressed consumer sentiment readings.

As if that weren't enough, Federal Reserve Chairman Ben Bernanke will trudge to Capitol Hill again, along with the rest of the President's Working Group on Financial Markets (a.k.a. The PPT), to explain to senators just why the financial markets aren't working.

Risks abound in both the numbers and in the testimony.

FMM Comment: I'm looking forward to Ron Paul boxing Ben's ears again. Is Ben dragging the PPT along as bodyguards?

Should Ron Paul Abandon His Bid for the Republican Nomination ?

McCAIN MADNESS

by Chuck Baldwin

A few weeks before Super Tuesday, my friend Howard Phillips asked me who I thought the Republican Presidential nominee would be. I predicted John McCain. With the results of Super Tuesday now history, most political pundits are also predicting that the Arizona senator will gain the Republican nomination for President. And with Mitt Romney now out of the race, McCain is all but assured the nomination. One did not need to be a seer to figure this one out.

For one thing, President George W. Bush all but destroyed whatever conservative influence was left in the GOP. Peggy Noonan is right about that.
(See http://online.wsj.com/public/article_print/SB120120952618514493.html )

Furthermore, the capitulation and compromise of principle by the Religious Right has also significantly sealed the death warrant of conservatism within the GOP. For the sake of not offending George Bush or losing whatever seat at the table the various leaders of the Religious Right felt they had, their spirit of resistance waned to the point that the very name "Christian Conservative" has lost all meaning, not to mention power.

As a result, Republicans have come to accept Big Government, runaway federal spending, the Welfare State, the Warfare State, the Nanny State, empire-building, gargantuan trade and budget deficits, warrantless eavesdropping, the loss of 4th Amendment rights, ad infinitum, ad nauseam.

Therefore, how could anyone expect the vast majority of Republican voters to suddenly rediscover a huge commitment of conviction to conservative principles? Add to that question the fact that there is only one true conservative/constitutionalist who made it to the Republican primaries: Congressman Ron Paul. And virtually the entire media and political establishment pummeled Congressman Paul to the point that his limited success in the race can be categorized as nothing short of miraculous.

Romney suspends presidential campaign !!!

Whoooot!!!

(CNN) -- Mitt Romney suspended his bid for the Republican presidential nomination Thursday, saying if he continued it would "forestall the launch of a national campaign and be making it easier for Sen. Clinton or Obama to win."

Former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney is suspending his campaign.

"In this time of war, I simply cannot let my campaign be a part of aiding a surrender to terror. This is not an easy decision. I hate to lose," the former Massachusetts governor said.

"If this were only about me, I'd go on. But it's never been only about me. I entered this race because I love America, and because I love America, in this time of war I feel I have to now stand aside for our party and for our country."

Romney made the announcement Thursday afternoon at the annual Conservative Political Action Conference in Washington.

The Newly Annointed Commander and Chief

This little poem sums up the results for Super Tuesday, of both the Democratic and Republican Party:

ANOINT, v.t.
To grease a king or other great functionary already sufficiently slippery.

As sovereigns are anointed by the priesthood,
So pigs to lead the populace are greased good.

Ron Paul Beats McCain in Maine Caucus, Primed to Win Over 1/3 of State Delegates

From www.ronpaul2008.com

In the race for delegates, Ron Paul appears to closely trail Romney for first place

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
February 4, 2008

ARLINGTON, VIRGINIA – While most reports about this past weekend’s Maine Caucus focused on the purely symbolic presidential preference poll, in the meaningful race to secure delegates to the state convention Ron Paul is primed to finish second with likely 35 percent of the total delegates.

Delegates to the Republican National Convention in Minneapolis are elected by the state delegates. Internal results from 10 of 16 counties, including the largest cities of Portland, South Portland, Lewiston, Auburn, Augusta, Waterville, Bangor, and Brewer, show Ron Paul picking up 215 of 608 State Convention delegates so far reported, or 35%.

“Ron Paul’s strong second place finish in Maine, in which he beat John McCain, is proof that this race is far from over,” said Ron Paul campaign manager Lew Moore. “We’ll continue to battle for every delegate in this wide-open race for the Republican nomination.”

In the presidential preference poll, with 70 percent reporting, Ron Paul is in third place just two percentage points behind John McCain. However, the Maine preference poll is purely a beauty contest, and in the actual election of state delegates the so-called “frontrunner” McCain is far behind Ron Paul.

Ron Paul's Greatest Speech?

Before the US House of Representatives, September 19, 1984

Mr. Speaker, I shall be soon leaving the House and have asked for this special order to make a few comments regarding the problems our nation faces and the actions needed to correct them. Having been honored by the 22nd District of Texas to represent them for four terms, I have grown to appreciate the greatness of this institution. I only wish the actions performed by the Congress in recent years could match the historic importance of this body.

Thousands of men and women have come and gone here in our country's history, and except for the few, most go unnoticed and remain nameless in the pages of history, as I am sure I will be. The few who are remembered are those who were able to grab the reins of power and, for the most part, use that power to the detriment of the nation. We must remember that achieving power is never the goal sought by a truly free society. Dissipation of power is the objective of those who love liberty. Others, tragically, will be remembered in a negative way for personal scandals. Yet those individuals whose shortcomings prompted the taking of bribes or involvement in illicit sexual activities, have caused no more harm to society than those who used "legitimate" power to infringe upon individual liberty and expand the size of government. Morally the two are closely related. The acceptance of a bribe is a horrible act indeed for a public servant, but reducing liberty is an outrageous act that causes suffering for generations to come.

Paving Paradise

The Constitution guarantees Americans the right to be secure against all unreasonable seizures. My home state of Texas is unfortunately planning on some very unreasonable seizures of land with the monstrous Trans Texas Corridor highway project. The TTC plans call for a highway to cut through about 4,000 Texas miles, and with separate rail lines for passenger and freight, a multi-lane highway with separate truck lanes, utility and cable easements, this highway could be as wide as 1200 feet across. In the end this project would consume something like half a million acres of land in Texas . However, since the exact path of the road has not been determined, it is putting much more acreage in jeopardy, and in limbo.

Taking land is destructive enough. But the perpetual threat of taking an undetermined amount of land is hanging over the heads of millions of Texans and putting their lives at a standstill. Land is a store of wealth and a source of stability. This highway project is tragically threatening that for so many Texans.

The principle of private property is the cornerstone to a free and prosperous society. In situations where a colossal government land grab is a distinct possibility, investment or improvement becomes more risky with an uncertain future and tends not to happen. How do you sell land that may or may not be taken by the government at some point in the not too distant future? Who would buy it? How do you cultivate or build on, or even near, land that may or may not be paved over and turned into a massive, noisy thoroughfare in a few years?

Even more insulting is the distinct possibility that, while the road will collect tolls and fees, making a private foreign firm billions of dollars in revenue, the costs of building it could be heavily borne by taxpayers. So the costs will be socialized and the profits privatized. Public-private partnership indeed!

From Washington I have voiced my staunch disapproval of taking these hard-working taxpayers’ land for a private toll road, by introducing legislation (HR 5191) that simply states, “No Federal funds appropriated or made available before, on, or after the date of enactment of this Act may be used by a unit of Federal, State, or local government to carry out the highway project known as the 'Trans-Texas Corridor'.” I am working hard in Congress to make sure that no Federal funding is used to undermine property rights in this way.

We should be focusing on guarding and securing our borders for the protection of the American people. Instead we are paving the way for more and more people to cross the border as comfortably as possible. And taking the family farm to do it. It is an absolute outrage.
